Who are we?

We are a healing arts collective dedicated to using natural & traditional methods for the healing of people of all ages and backgrounds. We are based in the small surf of town Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. Our practice was founded in 2019 by Suzanne Reid and is an extension/evolution of the original Clinica Holistica founded in 2004.

We offer a wide variety of healing modalities including Acupuncture, Massage, Therapy Sessions, Health Consultations, Crystal & Sound Healing, Reiki & Tarot Card Readings. We also offer herbal medicines as well as imported high quality supplements to our patients. We strive to create a space that honours the needs of each patient and their individual path of healing. We tailor each treatment plan to the individual, at times using a variety of modalities to facilitate the deepest process of healing.

Dr. Shelby Suzanne Reid is the founder of Medicina Holistica.

She has a doctor's degree from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Vancouver, Canada and is registered with the Board of Natural Medicine Doctors and Practitioners of North America.

With over twenty years of international clinical experience, Suzanne has acquired the knowledge and skills needed to treat a wide range of health issues.

Her practice is in general medicine, treating all ages and conditions with a holistic approach. Aside from physical therapy treatments and hands on healing, she also includes examination and improvement of diet, nutritional supplements, mental and emotional health, spiritual faith, negative habits and appropriate lifestyle.

Suzanne chose to pursue a career in natural health after losing her mother to leukemia, back in 1996, she was 22 years old at the time. After witnessing the deterioration and eventual death of her mom in the hands of western medicine, she instinctively knew there must be more to healing than just the modern, allopathic, pharmaceutical approach.

Her search for health and healing has been an extraordinary journey, which she still continues today. Suzanne is passionate about continuing education and is constantly researching new developments in healing technologies and Functional Medicine as well as studying the classics of Tibetan Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, North American Herbal and Shamanic Medicine.
